Starting Out

After creating a blog for my parents this week, and visiting other people's blogs, I thought I ought to try doing this for our family. It's been a crazy summer. We started working on an addition for our home almost a year ago now, the actual demo and construction started in April. After an unreal number of people passing away this year that we know or are related to and my father's stroke this week, I decided I better start doing some of the things I have been trying to get around to for a long time. I was girl's camp director this year, which was such a treat, wonderful young women and amazing leaders to work with. Then our oldest daughter Alisha got married in the Salt Lake Temple to Brad Packer. What a wonderful day and what an unforgettable experience. The are such a cute couple, they look alike I think(and so does pretty much everyone else)They are very hard working, studious, young people and we are so proud of them. Then it was my parents 50th wedding anniversary on September 11th. It was wonderful to work together with all of my siblings on getting it together and then to see so many of our parents friends and our friends that we have known throughout the years with all of our travels with the Air Force. When that was over, my amazing Bishop husband asked me if I would like to be called to be a family history specialist down at his BYU Ward, I have absolutely loved it. I have learned so much, and also became a little more exposed to what blogging is from the students in my class, as well Alisha who has put a great blog page together for her and Brad. It has been a full and wonderful year so far.

Dad's massive stroke happened on Monday and he was only given a 50% chance to live, and here we are only 6 days later, and he is busy in physical therapy, trying to break records in recovery. Even through this tragedy, I see the hand of the Lord constantly, and the love and strength of my parents, my siblings, my husband and children, extended family and friends. What a blessing. As Brother Caldwell said at dad & mom's 5oth, these are eternal friendships.
