What fun! Everyone in the Palmer family looks forward to this every year, and noone looks forward to it more than dad and mom. It was great to see dad up and walking around so much of the time and driving in the truck to check on the rest of the ranch with the rest of the family. We all get together around the bonfire, usually created by Shanda, and have lots of good dutch oven food. Then whoever wants usually heads out to go jack rabbit hunting, but there weren't hardly any this year, and fishing was not successful either. Saturday morning we are up early rustling the cows, getting all the adult cows out of the corral and getting the young ones branded and eartagged and vaccinated and well... you know. The kids love to be a part of it and see how tough they are. Alisha and Lisa, Shanda's sis were the official eartaggers, Shanda and some of the men with the vaccinations, Jamie, Terry, DeeRay, Bob and Ryan with the branding, with Papa J keeping the branding irons hot and ready, and Marie Jewett and DeeRay on "banding" (a more humane way of castrating if you asked me.) After branding and lunch, it was time for target shooting practice, and we have some real dead eyes in the family. We are getting to work on the DVD already. Any suggestions on songs are always greatly appreciated. We missed those that couldn't be there, and we love having the Jewett family be there with us, they are so wonderful! We were so glad that Brad and Alisha were able to make it this year, they took some awesome pictures for us as well as everyone else.
